Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street is proud to feature one of our local contributing businesses in the monthly Small Business Spotlight.
This month, we are featuring Presley Kay Fitness, owned and operated by Presley McCormick who is a certified personal trainer offering online training, small groups & 1-1 training.

What is your job title and role?
My name is Presley McCormick and I own Presley Kay Fitness.
How long have you been in business in Chariton/Lucas County?
I started this business 1 1/2 years ago.
Describe your business
I am a Certified Personal Trainer. I offer online training, small groups, and 1-1 training. My workouts are targeted to the busy parent. All workouts last 25-30 minutes and are quick, yet effective.
Why do you do what you do?
I became a personal trainer because fitness has had a huge impact on my own life, both physically and mentally. I realized I wanted to take that passion and use it to help others feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in themselves.
Was there a specific moment or realization where you made the decision to start your own business?
A couple years ago I completed a program called 75 Hard. It was during those 75 days that I realized how much fitness really can transform your life in so many ways. I start small with just a couple of online clients until I was able to transform my garage into a grym and start in person training.

What inspires you to keep at it each day?
My clients are my inspiration. I love seeing clients hit goals they never thought possible and watching how that progress spills over into other areas of their lives.
What are your biggest challenges as a business owner?
The biggest challenge of this business is helping clients stay consistent, expecially when life gets busy or motivation dips. It's about understanding what's going on in their lives and helping them stay on track mentally too. But also remebering that I can't do the work for them, so they have to make their health and fitness a priority too.
What are your biggest rewards?
The biggest reward as a personal trainer is seeing clients change physically and mentally. Seeing them lift heavier, feeling more confident, and just developing a new lifestyle and mindset is so rewarding.
What will people get from your business that they won't get anywhere else?
When people come to me for training they will get a comfortable, judgement free place to workout. Whether you are day one of your fitness journey or been at it for years, it's a safe place to come, train, and work towards your goals.

2nd Annual Murph Challenge- The Murph is a physical/mental challenge completed every Memorial Day by people all over the world in honor of Lt. Michael Murphy who lost his life fighting for our country. In 2024, I decided to host a Murph Challenge for some of my clients. But with the help of the CHS REAL class, the challenge became bigger than I imagined. There are 10 nominated "draftees" with cans at the Chariton Hy-Vee Store. People are able to put money in the can of who they would like to see take on the Murph. The top 5 with the most money raised take on the Murph on Memorial Day in my gym. All of the money raised is given to the Lucas County Veterans Memorial Park.
