4th of July Celebration
Chariton's 4th of July Celebration is a tradition that many hold near and dear to their heart.
Festivities include tractor pulls, dunk tank, bingo, bathtub races, a carnival, parade, and more! A live band performs each night and the festivities wrap up with fireworks at Northwest Park.

Flying Anvil 5K
Start your Independence Day celebrations with a BLAST!
Johnson Machine Works' Annual "Flying Anvil" 5K Run/Walk replaces the traditional "shot gun start" with a sonic boom and a dynamite blast that launches a 100-pound anvil into the air.

County Fair
Lucas County Fair Association hosts the annual Lucas County Fair the second to last Friday through following Thursday of July.
All 4-H, FFA , clover sprouts, and open class exhibitors are welcome to exhibit their projects at the fair. Other events include the crowning of the fair queen, live concerts, and more.

Golf fun day
Tee up and hit the fairway for Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street's Annual Golf Fun Day! This local golf tournament offers a fun-filled day for 4-person teams for just $160.
The 2023 Golf Fun Day will take place on Thursday, June 1st at Lakeview Golf and Country Club.
Chariton Farmers Market
Visit the Chariton Farmers Market on the downtown Chariton square each Thursday from 4:00-6:00 pm from May 11 - October 5, 2023!
Our vendors sell fresh produce, baked goods, honey, eggs, kettle corn, handmade crafts, artwork, home goods and accessories, and more!

John L. Lewis Labor Festival
The city of Lucas celebrates and honors John L. Lewis, mining and labor leader, every year during Labor Day Weekend. Join Lucas businesses and organizations for a breakfast, 5k run/walk, parade, car show, bingo, and more. The evening wraps up with a street dance complete with live music and beverages.
